Hatians Turn to God for Help

It is all over my paper- Hatians, rattled by the recent quake, are assembling in anything standing that remotely resembles a church. They are thanking their god for saving their lives and protecting the survivors.

Again, a searing WTF? Clearly their god wanted hundreds of thousands dead and children orphaned. Clearly their god wanted people to suffer in pain and sustain lifelong injuries.

I guess they are trying to keep on his good side.

To me, I don't get it. The earthquake was not magic or supernatural. It was a physical shifting of the earth's plates. The devastation was caused by horrendous building strategies in a crowded town living in absolute poverty. This was not an act of gods or devils, it was an act of the earth and a tragedy beyond measure.

These people need to get out of the church and only get on their knees if it is to move rocks to rescue a survivor pinned in rubble with time running out. In this way their god is killing more people indirectly, because as they waste time in prayer people are dying that need their help.

It is an absolute tragedy, but a natural and predictable one. The best thing for the Hatian people would be to abandon belief in an invisible man that is not doing anything to help, and focus on getting his work done themselves.

Schmootzie Returns!

It is 2010 and I've been incommunicato since April of 2008. Turns out that I caught really bad autism from a vaccine I was given, but help from a Jenny McCarthy book cleared that up right quickly.

I would not say that I felt like a million bucks, but maybe about ten bucks. That's a start.

I've got a cubic butt-ton of email to open, so I best get to it.

I will post again.

The Fallacies of "Expelled"

The movie exploits a scientifically illiterate public's ignorance in the further erosion of America's slide into technological obscurity. ID and "creation science" are not science, period. Science has rules. An objective hypothesis is tested and evidence supports a conclusion.

ID and similar religious modalities start with a conclusion and cherry pick the evidence to fit it. That's not science, the rest of the world knows it, still advocates here pretend that it is.

There is no such thing as a "Darwinist" or "Evolutionist" as religious zealots would want you to believe. There are scientists and non-scientists. Scientists MUST be open to all possibilities, including biblical creation. We are. There just is no credible, reproducible, peer-reviewed, hard evidence that the earth was created in six days 6000 years old and in the center of the universe.

If such evidence were found then contrary to Expelled's claim of repression, legitimate evidence would elevate and expand science to new frontiers- it would be the greatest story of all time.

Sadly, the evidence for this does not exist and we have to rely on the brand of legitimate scientific inquiry that brought you technology, doubled your life expectancy, and all the toys from home computers to battleships. Science is good stuff!

However, in 2010 90% of the world's engineers and scientists will be in Asia. We'll be discussing whether we perpetuate the anti-science agenda of a small clade of nervous faithful, as scientific findings do not match their preconceived beliefs.

Expelled Exposed- Transparent Lies by Desperate People

The movie Expelled allegedly preaches the merits of intelligent design, but really just propagates the fraud to the sheep that want to hear it. The movie that made Rush Limbaugh weep is a christian-supremacist, anti-science, non-evidence based attack on those that use reason, reproducible evidence and logic to formulate scientific opinion.

The movie does the usual non-science of starting with a conclusion and working backwards.

The best part is that it further erodes the credibility of the religious right, the people that lie in government and want to lie to children in science class. I'm glad that they put this stuff out there, because they are the only one's that believe their own bullshit. Eventually even the most mindless Americans will see them for the frauds they are. Most people are pretty comfortable with the earth being more than 6000 years old and not in the center of the universe!

Please read Expelled Exposed for more information.

Dark Bag = Good Night

When I come home with a black bag it is a signal to my neighbors that the party is at my place- and nobody is invited.

It is either a handle bottle of booze or a stack of dirty magazines. Either way, the opaque plastic bag is like smoke from under the vatican door... some guy is getting busy on the other side and you ain't invited.
